Wonder what's in your medicine? DailyMed is a web service for accessing high-quality information about marketed drugs based on product label information submitted to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The database contains nearly 40,000 drugs including human, animal, prescription, and over-the-counter medication.

  • Setup Instructions

    • You do not need Credentials to use the Choreos in this bundle. You can identify drugs by name, keyword, or National Drug Code. The information available is highly detailed and the results returned can be refined to include only specific topics of interest (e.g., Adverse Reactions, Dosage and Administration).

    • National Drug Code (NDC) The National Drug Code is a unique 10-digit numeric identifier assigned to each medication by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The NDC of a drug can often be found on the product's label.
    • Structured Product Label (SPL) The Structured Product Label is the information contained in the DailyMed database for each drug registered with the FDA. Information in each SPL is organized under several topic headings referred to in this Choreo bundle as Components. Information obtained about a drug can be restricted to specific Components that are of interest or else a complete SPL can be returned.
    • Component Components are topic headings under which information in the DailyMed database is organized. Common Components include: Description, Warnings, Indications and Usage, and Adverse Reactions.

    • DailyMed.GetComponents

      Returns imprint data associated with a given National Drug Code (NDC) in the DailyMed database.

    • DailyMed.Query

      Returns the records available in the DailyMed database associated with a given drug.

    • DailyMed.SearchByName

      Returns a list of drugs in the DailyMed database associated with a given drug name.

    • DailyMed.SearchByNDC

      Returns a list of drugs in the DailyMed database associated with a given National Drug Code (NDC).
