Google's Gmail is the world's most popular free email service. This bundle includes functionality for sending email via SMTP and retrieving emails via Gmail's Inbox Feed.

  • Setup Instructions

    • To use the Choreos in this bundle, you'll need Google OAuth credentials or a Google Username and App Password. If you don't already have a Google account, you can sign up for one here.

      Authenticating with OAuth

      Authenticating with OAuth credentials is the preferred authentication method. To authenticate using OAuth, follow these steps:

      • Login to Google's Developer Console, and create a new Project if you haven't done so already.
      • Under APIs & auth > Credentials, create a new Client ID and specify Web application for the Application Type.
      • When configuring the Consent Screen, make sure you fill out the Email Address and Product Name fields.
      • Save the Consent screen details. Specify this callback URL as the Authorized Redirect URI:
      https://{Your Temboo Account Name}.temboolive.com/callback/google
      https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom
      • Open a new web browser, navigate to the authorization URL returned by the InitializeOAuth Choreo, and click "Accept" to grant the app access to your Google account.
      • Run the Google > OAuth > FinalizeOAuth Choreo, specifying the callback ID returned earlier by the InitializeOAuth Choreo. This process will return a Refresh Token which can be used along with the Client ID and Client Secret to authenticate with Google.

      Authenticating with an App Password

      The Gmail > SendEmail Choreo is an SMTP function that requires a Username and an App password. When authenticating with a Google Username and App-specific password, you'll want to enable 2-Step Verification and generate an App Password for Temboo. To do this, follow these steps:

      • Sign in to your Google Account settings page by clicking on your name or picture in the upper right corner of the screen and then clicking Account.
      • Scroll down to the "Signing in" box.
      • Click 2-Step Verification. This will bring you to the 2-Step Verification settings page.
      • You will then see a step-by-step guide which will guide you through the setup process.
      • After you've enabled 2-Step Verification, you'll be prompted to create an App Password.
      • In the Select app dropdown menu, choose "Other", and give this app a name (e.g., TembooApp).
      • Click "Generate". You'll be given a 16-digit passcode that can be used to access your Google Account from Temboo.

      Note: If you wish to authenticate with OAuth credentials when sending emails, you should use the Google > Gmailv2 Choreos.
