Looks up products by sector in the EPA Design for the Environment database

  • Input
    • Category Specify either Industrial or Consumer to retrieve a list of products that fall into either category. If a specific SectorKeyword or SectorID is given, this input is ignored.
    • ResponseFormat Response can be returned in JSON or XML. Defaults to XML.
    • SectorID A number representing the unique identifier for the product's sector in the EnviroFacts database.
    • SectorKeyword A keyword in the name of the sector to search for. If a specific SectorID is given, this input is ignored.

    • This Choreo allows you to look up products by sector in the EPA Design for the Environment database. The documentation for this EnviroFacts resource can be found here.

      If a SectorID is specified, the choreo will return records for products in that sector. If a SectorKeyword is specified (i.e. any word in the name of the sector) the Choreo will return any products in the database which are a match for that sector keyword. A Category can also be specified (Industrial or Consumer), in which case the Choreo will return records for all products in that category.

      The DfE database contains products labeled either Industrial or Consumer. You can look up all the possible Sectors (i.e. Carpet Cleaners, Fire-Fighting Products) in the drop-down menu on the EPA website for each of the Consumer or Industrial types of products here. To obtain a SectorID number for any sector, first run the AdvancedSearch Choreo using that sector's keywords.

      The optional Operator input by default is set to "=" when SectorID is specified, which searches for exact matches. It is set to "CONTAINING" when either SectorKeyword or CompanyKeyword is specified, to make the keyword search more flexible. Other possible values for the Operator input include ">", "<" and "!=" (does not equal) for customized number searches, and "BEGINNING" for a customized keyword searches which begin with the given input.

      Here is an example of an acceptable set of inputs:
