This bundle includes functionality for working with Power BI Datasets.

  • Setup Instructions

    • To use these Choreos:

      • Sign up for a new Power BI account.
      • Go to the Power BI Registration Tool.
      • In the Login to your Power BI account section, click Sign in with your existing account and login with the Power BI account you created in Step 1 above.
      • In the Tell us about your app section, enter an App Name (e.g. My Temboo Test App).
      • For the App Type field, select Server-side Web app.
      • In the Redirect URI field, specify this Callback URL, replacing "TEMBOO_ACCOUNT_NAME" with your own Temboo account name:
       https://TEMBOO_ACCOUNT_NAME.temboolive.com/callback/microsoft
      • The Home Page URL field can have any valid URL. For testing purposes, you can just specify localhost:
      http://localhost
      • In the Choose APIs to access section, select the Read and Write All Datasets option under Dataset APIs.
      • Click Register App at the bottom of the screen. You will now see a Client ID and Client Secret which can be used (along with your Username and Password) to authenticate with Power BI.
      • On the Temboo website, run the Microsoft > OAuth > InitializeOAuth Choreo, specifying the Client ID from the app you registered at Microsoft and the following Resource:
      https://analysis.windows.net/powerbi/api
      • Open a new browser tab and visit the Authorization URL returned by the InitializeOAuth Choreo. When prompted, log in as your Power BI user and grant access, you will redirect to the Reply URL.
      • Now run the Microsoft > OAuth > FinalizeOAuth Choreo, specifying the Callback ID returned earlier by the InitializeOAuth Choreo. You'll also need to include the same Resource as above.
      • At this point, you'll be able to use your Client ID, Client Secret, Username, and Password to access your Power BI account via the API.

      Note: if you are building an application that needs to access Power BI accounts for multiple users, you'll need to pass the Access Token returned by the FinalizeOAuth Choreo to authenticate your application's users. You can use the Refresh Token with the Microsoft > OAuth > RefreshToken Choreo when an Access Token expires.
